Food & Nutrition Services

Savings Average: 25%
Food and nutrition services are arguably one of the most difficult hospital services to effectively manage. Seasonal changes in patient stays, best pricing on hundreds of staple items, optimal cafeteria pricing and other variables contribute to the complexity of this purchased service.
Our team of experts can significantly cut food services costs and spending throughout the entire institution, while maintaining, or elevating the quality of the operations.
Our Process
- Contract Review: We review relevant agreements (GPO, outsourcing, branding, and vending machines) to ensure that all potential rebates and commissions are effectively utilized across food purchases, retail options, and vending.
- Budget: We study all areas of your line-item budget, including cafeteria and vending machine revenue, guest meals, employee meals and discounts, and payment systems.
- Costs: We review the average cost of cafeteria meals, the number of in-patient meals by type, kitchen production equipment, pay rates, and much more to match (or improve on) industry standards.
- Vendor Negotiation: We negotiate with vendors to ensure that no opportunities for rebates and commissions are missed.
- Validating & Monitoring: On an ongoing basis, we’ll track quarterly spending and provide reports for the life of the new contract, monitoring for price changes.
